Description
These captivating clusters of the iridescent wings of the Sternocera aequisignata beetle (also known as the emerald beetle) dangle happily as a pair of lightweight, fun, and fabulous earrings. The beetles are ethically sourced from Northern Thailand after living their full life cycle (up to 2 years). They are collected from villages where the beetles are traditionally eaten as a source of protein, and the wings saved for decoration. Considered good luck, they are traditionally worn by Thai hill tribes. The wings are surprisingly durable, with a similar strength to a fingernail. Hooks are surgical steel.
Dimensions: (2.7″/69mm – long-with hooks) x (.5″/12.7mm -thick-hanging position)
