Amazing Palaeobalistum in its limestone matrix. Palaeobalistum is an extinct genus of prehistoric ray-finned fish of the order Pycnodontiformes. These cretaceous age fish are characterized by their well-preserved crushing teeth and are considered rare among the fossils found in the Hakel formation. The fossils are typically found in marine lagerstätten near Byblos, Lebanon.
