One side of this decorative pendant is made from the layering of red, white, and black pieces of the ventral side of the dazzling Diaethria neglecta butterfly. All Diaethria species are commonly called eighty-eights because of the “88” patterns on the hindwing undersides. Diaethria neglecta is found in Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela. The opposite side is made from the brown eyespotted wing of an undetermined moth or butterfly!
