Kyanite

KYANITE is an aluminum silicate that forms elongated, flat, bladelike crystals. It can be found in blue, green, black, white, pink, yellow, or gray. Kyanite has two qualities of hardness: measured along the crystal axes, the hardness is 4.5; measured across the axes, the hardness is 6-7. This stone is thought to ease anxiety, cut through indecision, and encourage productive communication between disharmonious peoples. Blue Kyanite is thought to be useful for singers and speakers, as it is said to strengthen the voice and soothe the throat. It is found in India, Mexico, and Myanmar (formerly Burma). Its major deposits are found in Switzerland, Brazil, Russia, Kenya, Nepal, Tanzania and in the eastern United States.
