KYANITE is an aluminum silicate that forms elongated, flat, bladelike crystals. It can be found in blue, green, black, white, pink, yellow, or gray. Kyanite has two qualities of hardness: measured along the crystal axes, the hardness is 4.5; measured across the axes, the hardness is 6-7. This stone is thought to ease anxiety, cut through indecision, and encourage productive communication between disharmonious peoples. Kyanite is found in Brazil, South Africa, Switzerland, Burma, Kenya, Mexico, and the USA.
