Sugilite

SUGILITE was discovered in 1944 by Japanese geologist Ken Ichi Sugi. This potassium sodium lithium iron manganese aluminum silicate ranges from pale lilac to deep purple, and has a hardness of 6 to 6.5. It usually forms in opaque masses, but occasionally grows in tiny prismatic crystals. Sugilite is considered a stone of dreams; it can help one remember them from previous night and can provide courage and optimism for pursuing dreams for the future. Although some sugilite can found in Japan and Canada, most of it comes from the very deep manganese mines of South Africa.
